Changes, improvements, and bug fixes

  • Fix: Due to a multi-region and multi-service AWS outage, we had delays in data processing between about 4:00pm Pacific Time on September 18th through about 4:00am Pacific Time on September 19th. Due to these underlying storage and network infrastructure issues, some data loss happened during the outage window. To better guard against future data loss, we have migrated part of our infrastructure to solutions with additional redundancy features and will continue to implement additional measures.

  • Fix: Addressed an issue in Selective Enrichment for Marketo where the 'add condition' function in sub-grouping was not functioning as expected.

  • Fix: Our UI has been updated to accurately reflect that the Marketo Integration only supports live enrichment.

  • Fix: We've fixed a problem in Selective Enrichment for Marketo related to Date Type fields, ensuring they now display the correct options.

  • Fix: We've fixed an issue where certain company names were being incorrectly set to the string "default."

This week, we're highlighting two significant internal enhancements aimed at improving your experience with data enrichment:

1. Real-Time Enrichment for New Records:

We understand the importance of swift data delivery for your lead routing workflows. To ensure your data is enriched in real time, we're adjusting our process. Newly created records in Salesforce will now take priority in the initial pipeline stage, while updated records will follow at longer intervals. This change will enhance the speed and efficiency of your lead routing workflows.

2. Streamlined Backfills for Enhanced Performance:

We're taking steps to prevent potential bottlenecks in data processing. To achieve this, we're limiting backfills for the integration objects in each customer’s account (Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Companies, etc.) to one per 24 hours. This change will provide our system with the necessary time to completely process the original batch of data, resulting in smoother dynamic updates and backfills for everyone.

These improvements demonstrate our commitment to addressing challenges and continuously improving your experience with Platform enrichment integrations. Thank you for your ongoing support, and we're looking forward to delivering even more improvements in the future!

  • Improvement: Added a new data source to improve employee count, revenue and location data.

  • Fix: We discovered and fixed an error with synchronizing fields for several accounts for the Marketo integration.

  • Fix: Addressed an issue with several Salesforce accounts not being updated.

  • Fix: Detected and addressed error in selective enrichment criteria processing.

  • Fix: Corrected an error with missing metrics that would be visible on the Clearbit platform dashboard. The issue was caused by an error in implementing some forthcoming platform UI changes.

  • Fix: We cleared a backup causing delays in certain forms of enrichment, impacting integrations including Platform Enrichment for SFDC, Hubspot, and Marketo, as well as Person API webhooks.

As part of our promise to be the best in B2B data, we've improved our coverage for employee count and revenue data for public companies and their subsidiaries by a whopping 50%!

We've achieved this by tapping into the power of Large Language Models, so we can use AI to provide you more accurate insights more quickly than anyone else in the industry.

Changes, improvements, and bug fixes

  • Alert: HubSpot added property validation rules, but has not yet provided a way to retrieve the rules via their API. This means that, if you add these validation rules, and Clearbit returns a value that doesn’t conform with the rule, enriched data would not be pushed back into the HubSport platform. We advise not using these validation rules until the ability to retrieve them is available. See this article for details from HubSpot.

  • Fix: Changed how Clearbit authenticates to customer Salesforce instances to reduce frequent disconnections, mitigating the need for customers to reconnect often.

  • Fix: Addressed an intermittent issue where alerts were not being sent to Slack unless the relevant Audience was viewed. 

  • Fix: Corrected an error that could cause CSV exports to get stuck.

Introducing: Clearbit Status Trait

We just released a new system trait to help you better understand the outcome of a record’s enrichment compared against your field mappings. This status code is designed to help you create a more effective workflow by providing a clear outcome of Clearbit's attempt to find enrichment data that matches your field mappings.

The three possible code values for Clearbit Status are:

  • 200: Clearbit successfully found enrichment data corresponding to the field mappings. For example, the Company Name attribute was mapped and Clearbit successfully found data for that attribute.

  • 206: While Clearbit found enrichment data, it does not match the current field mappings. Building on the previous example, Clearbit found data for a record’s Company Name attribute, but this attribute was not mapped.

  • 404: Clearbit was unable to locate any enrichment data to match against the field mappings.

Using Clearbit Status provides a strategic advantage in managing your workflows. By integrating this status code as a trigger in Salesforce, HubSpot, or Marketo, you can streamline operations and automate specific actions effectively. This enables you to optimize your processes and make the most out of Clearbit's capabilities for your business success.

  • Improvement: Added GICS 2020 and NAICS 2022 attributes - available in the Company details profile page, the Enrichment sync tab, in Batch enrichment, and in the API Documentation

  • Fix: Corrected an issue related to improperly formatted LinkedIn handles.

  • Fix: Addressed a sporadic issue with the Advertising Audience sync interval.

  • Fix: Resolved potential failures in Customer syncs while syncing certain objects with the Marketo integration.

  • Fix: Fixed an issue with Selective Enrichment to prevent enriched records from getting stuck in the "pending" state due to an error in logging.

  • Fix: Deleted selective enrichment filters are now invalidated right away.

Introducing: Clearbit's New Marketo Integration

We are excited to announce that Clearbit's legacy Marketo integration will be replaced with an upgraded version as part of our ongoing commitment to improvement. Our new Marketo integration allows you to get more fields that are relevant to you, and to do more with your data. 

This transition will take place over the next few months for all customers currently using the legacy integration. Support for the legacy integration will be available until its end-of-life date later this year, and there will be no changes to the contract terms and pricing.

  • Fix: Mitigated an Incident that was causing slower than usual Batch processing.

  • Fix: Resolved an Incident affecting certain customers using Salesforce Enrichment on Platform, where records were not being enriched.

  • Fix: Addressed a bug in the Salesforce integration that resulted in the 'lead exist = false' audience condition failing to filter out records with leads.

  • Fix: Fixed an issue where a customer's audience was getting stuck, leading to a failure in delivering destinations.

  • Fix: Improved the new account workflow in the dashboard to handle case sensitivity in email addresses correctly.

For the first time ever, we have true global coverage. Using a combination of our own proprietary data gathered during these last 7 years combined with the powers of Large Language Models – we can identify and enrich any company or contact, from any country, in any language. 

Japanese, Korean, Hebrew, Spanish, French, and Mandarin language domains are all now perfectly enriched with English descriptions, industry categorizations, keywords tags, and every other Clearbit attribute. 

As a Clearbit customer, you’ll feel this most in Europe and Asia. Our EMEA and APAC coverage has expanded significantly; we’ve added coverage of 2.1M new EMEA companies (+30%) and 1.7M new APAC companies covered (+34%).

  • Improvement: We added 250 million new people to our enrichment database, and updated 500 million existing records, with a particular emphasis on improving our people data in APAC and EMEA. This update not only adds new records, but also enhances the existing data with corrected and additional attributes, resulting in better match rates overall and for specific attributes. 

  • Improvement: Customers subscribed to our new standard plan now have access to a graph that displays universal usage statistics.

  • Improvement: Created a comprehensive article on setting up SAML authentication with Azure to help customers with their configuration.

  • Fix: Fixed an issue with the Marketo integration that caused form shortening to fail due to ad blockers blocking the loading of Clearbit JS. As a result, forms were not being submitted.

  • Fix: Successfully resolved the issue of Clearbit Capture not correctly displaying user avatars.

  • Fix: Addressed a problem where changes made to field mappings were not being saved in the UI when using Selective Enrichment.

  • Fix: Resolved an intermittent issue related to HubSpot form shortening, which occurred during the initial page load.

We’ve released an all new company tagging system that significantly improves our accuracy for existing tags and over 1400 all new company tags. We’re introducing keyword tags: granular tags based on the content of a company's website. Things like business model (B2B, B2C, SAAS), category (Sales Enablement, Digital Marketing, Business Intelligence), and keywords (APIs, Data, Crypto).   • Improvement: Clearbit Global Coverage: We have significantly expanded our coverage in EMEA and APAC regions.   • Improvement: We have implemented changes to our internal account management console, simplifying the process for our customer teams to better serve you, our valued customers.

Additionally, the system now successfully identifies and matches profiles that only display partial names on the platform.

  • Fix: Rectified the issue of a single record being generated per Clearbit Capture destination, ensuring accurate and efficient data collection.

  • Fix: Resolved a glitch in the Schedule Email Digest option that previously hindered the creation of destinations. 

  • Fix: Corrected the anomaly that triggered additional data ingestion when establishing a connection to Marketo for forms. The fix ensures that reconnecting to Marketo to set up the forms solution will not increase customers’ Marketo API consumption.

  • Fix: Addressed and resolved the delay in Salesforce data enrichment for some customers, ensuring all users enjoy timely and accurate data insights.

  • Fix: Fixed a bottleneck that was hindering the CSV exports for "all companies". The export functionality is now fully operational, ensuring timely delivery of data.

  • Fix: Successfully resolved data discrepancies related to parked domains, thus enhancing the accuracy and reliability of our domain data.

  • Fix: Rectified the Logo API glitch which was previously causing substandard logo quality, thereby ensuring sharp and high-resolution logos.

We've upgraded the Reveal API to help you better understand your anonymous web traffic. The updated API now includes information about visitor roles and seniority, as well as enhanced IP-based geographic information, allowing businesses to more effectively target buying groups at ideal companies.

In addition, we've boosted our Segment integration to return a confidence score and even more precise data about role and seniority. This means you can now gain more detailed insights into your website visitors, improving your targeting, personalization, and ultimately, your conversion rates.

Clearbit Launches Single Sign-On with Any Identity Provider

Clearbit now offers Single Sign-On (SSO) using SAML authentication, providing users with a secure and convenient method for accessing the platform. It works with a wide range of access management vendors including Okta, JumpCloud, and Google SSO.

The new SSO feature boasts improved security through the industry-standard SAML 2.0 protocol, offering better protection against unauthorized access. By centralizing the sign-on process, users can effortlessly switch between applications without needing multiple login credentials, ultimately saving time and boosting productivity. 

SSO SAML authentication is available to all Clearbit customers with an annual contract at no extra cost.

  • Improvement: Enhanced company information by incorporating multiple SIC4 codes when corresponding NAICS codes are available. For example, did you know that in addition to manufacturing candy Mars, Inc also specializes in pet food?

  • Improvement: 6-digit NAICS and 4-digit SIC codes are now available on the Clearbit Data Activation Platform. Easily map these fields to your CRM from the field mapping page for AI-powered insights into company categorizations.

  • Improvement: Introducing new system traits for Clearbit Capture – RevOps teams can utilize these traits to evaluate their Capture processes and assess attribution in Salesforce.

  • Improvement: Automated notification emails are now dispatched to account owners in case of platform connection errors, along with guidance on reestablishing the connection.

  • Integration: You can now integrate the Weekly Visitor with your CRM. This feature enables you to auth into SFDC and HubSpot to see what companies visiting your site already exist within your database.

  • Fix: Addressed issue with mapping multi-picklist values to CRM fields.

Discover new potential markets in your Weekly Visitor Report and size them by loading them into our free TAM Calculator. This feature allows you to quickly assess the potential value of different markets, guiding your decision-making process for expansion and growth.

  • Fix: Resolved data inconsistency issue with the newly released SIC and NAICS codes.

  • Fix: Enhanced the accuracy of audience results by using Salesforce traits to convert data types for custom fields, instead of relying on inference.

  • Fix: Rectified the problem of enrichment API calls being dropped when one call in a batch failed, ensuring a more reliable and stable API experience.

  • Fix: Fixed an issue with computed traits that could have resulted in segment inclusion traits and custom traits not always being enriched correctly to a customer’s CRM if the traits were mapped. The data would generally self-correct but could have been incorrect for a time.

  • Fix: Addressed a delayed data enrichment issue, improving the overall data processing speed and efficiency.

We're excited to announce the release of Clearbit's new Google Analytics 4 (GA4) integration! As you may know, GA4 is replacing Universal Analytics. On July 1, 2023, all standard Universal Analytics properties will stop processing data, while 360 Universal Analytics properties will cease processing data on July 1, 2024. Our new GA4 integration is here to seamlessly replace Clearbit's Universal Analytics connection ahead of these changes.

By using the GA4 integration in conjunction with Reveal, customers can identify which companies are visiting their websites. This valuable information can then be synced to GA4, providing deep insights into how these companies are discovering, engaging with, and converting on your site.
