Our next chapter

When we raised our seed round in 2015, we told ourselves that was the only funding we’d ever need. We focused on staying lean and raced to profitability within our first nine months. For the past three years, Clearbit has been profitable. We are in this for the long term, which chiefly requires building a sustainable business.

That’s precisely what we’ve built. Over the last four years, we’ve grown our products, team, and customer base into a substantial company that we’re very proud of. We service thousands of companies around the world providing them with the essential data infrastructure they need to run modern sales and marketing operations. Our rapidly growing team of 60 people work tirelessly to support the best B2B companies in the world. Companies like Segment, Asana, and AdRoll have built their entire sales and marketing stack on top of the Clearbit data layer.

What I’m most proud of is the team we’ve built and the people we’ve hired. Internally we have an incredible culture of feedback and self-growth. Conscious Leadership and world-class management are at the heart of everything we do, and it shows. Our team is one of the happiest I’ve ever seen (we score an average of 8.7 out of 10 when we anonymously survey our employee's happiness), and only a small handful of people have ever left.

Now comes the next chapter of Clearbit’s life. In the process of building a strong, rapidly growing, and profitable business, we’ve seen how the very best companies in the world run their go-to-market engines, and specifically how they use data as a massive competitive advantage.

There’s an opportunity to capitalize on this unique perspective and build the next generation of data-first marketing tooling. To that end, we’re happy to announce that Clearbit has raised an additional $15M in funding at a $250M valuation. The investment included Bedrock, Battery, Cross Creek, and Zetta Venture Partners.

We chose to raise this round for two reasons. First, we are investing heavily in product and engineering. Second, we’re stepping up our game for our existing 1500+ customers by investing more in customer success and enablement.

I can’t wait to share with you more details about what we’re working on next, and how it integrates into Clearbit’s platform. Stay tuned.
